I tried hard not to be grumpy this morning but it was hard. The bus journey was indeed shorter but it was worse than the long one. The seats were so uncomfy and the aircon was set to artic conditions and no blanket was provided. Needless to say I got no sleep :( when we arrived at th e bus station at 6am we were bombarded with taxi drivers dying to rip us off. They w anted to charge us 8000 kyat for a ride that cost us only 4000 coming. None of them wanted to budge and I was in no mood for being ripped off so we went for a cup of coffee to wake up and make a plan. We managed to find out which bus went to Sule and so the ride back to Downtown cost us 400 kyat al together! 10% of the price we paid coming and a big 2 fingers to the taxi drivers who ended up with nothing. If they'd have said 4000 we would have taken them but since they were greedy they got diddly squat. The bus back was terrible too and when we g o t to Sule is was chucking it down. We took shelter under a bus stop to see if it would stop but it didn't. So we decided to go straight to the internet café across the road to kill some time rather than get more wet trying to get back to the flat. It was only 8am so we presumed it would be dead...but instead it was full and we had to wait 30 minutes for a pc to become free! I really wanted to talk to my mum and Andrew since it has been so long since they heard from me. I knew they would be worried. Although it was only 2am for them I thought I would send them an email telling them I was ok , which they would see when they woke up. I could then call back later once they were awake to have a proper chat a n d wish Andrew a Happy Fathers Day.
After a few hours catching up with everything we thought about going back...but to what? An empty flat....great. So we decided to see if there was a new film out...and sure enough there was! So although we hadn't showered and we probably stank, we went to the cinema to watch The Last Kingdom. Its a Jet Li and Jackie Chan film and it is really good!
We were hoping to meet up with Joseph for dinner but he didn't seem to receive our email so instead we just went with Poe Poe and her friend. The 4 of us went to Chinatown for dinner since that was Lesh and mines favourite meal the whole time we were in Burma. It was really yummy and a good last supper. The whole meal and beers cost 20,300 kyat and we had 21000 kyat - all the money we had left! Good job no one ordered an extra beer! There was just enough to spend an hour at the internet café and speak to Andrew and then we would be skint! Good job the airport tax you pay in usd! It was great to finally speak to Mum and Andrew. I have missed them and Jossy so much...but only 39 days to go woohoo!!
