All 4 of us (me, Lesh, Manuel and Joseph) have decided to have a weekend off from school - not that I have been going to the school recently. Manuel has decided that he will go off for a few days to Inlay Lake since he is flying out to Bangkok on Friday 13th. So this is our last weekend all together.

This morning was just spent chilling and at the internet café. The internet café we use is called Mother Home and it is now like my official office! Since I am been dealing with the fund raising side of thing lately I have spent a lot of my time on the net. So much so that we have made friends with the owner who is a very nice Burmese guy called Min. He used to live in Japan for 5 years...as a sushi chef! He is a really nice guy and very helpful and when the speed is very slow he usually gives us a discount - not that its his fault as the slow speed would be city wide. We met Manuel whilst on the net and he told us that he had met up with Joseph and that he had told him to come round so we could all go out tonight :)

We had planned on going to the poshest restaurant in yangon called Le Planteur. Apparently they have an all you can eat bbq buffet on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Not only can you stuff yourself with food for hours but there is free beer, wine or Black Lable for the first 2 hours! All this for $18. Although it is very expensive on our budgets, we thought we would splurge out on Manuels last night and besides we would get our moneys worth on the drinks side! Unfortunately the buffet was not on when we called up to reserve. They don't have this offer on during monsoon time, only in peak season :( we took a look at the other set menus...but at up to $65 usd per head (not including alcohol) we decided against it... We took ages to decide where to go and in the end we opted for a place called Onyx. Joseph had been before and said the food was nice but it wasn't too pricey. We jumped in a taxi which had no idea where to go even though we showed him a map. After asking a few times he got it in the end and we finally arrived after a stiffling hot journey in a car that cut out about 30 times while we were in it.

Onyx was nice. We splurged on a nice bottle of wine which was 20,000 kyat...($10 or 5 quid) we went with my choice of a delicious 2003 Australian red, with a shiraz / granache combination....yum....my 2 favourite grapes :) we gassed away the whole time as usual and the restaurant filled up with a mixture of posh locals and expats. We knew that we wanted to go out and go clubbing but we didn't have much money left after the meal. So we decided to go to a beer station nearby rather than pay stupid prices for a drink in a posh place. After walking for ages we ended up down some back alley that was filthy and stank to high heaven but they served beer. The boys started tucking in where as my beer went down very slowly since my stomach is only just recovering.

At 11pm we made our way to a club nearby. I wasn't sure what to expect since most things in Burma are not like things you see in other countries but this was a really nice club! The dj was banging out some excellent tunes and best of all the footie was on! I spotted it as soon as we walked in and headed straight for the space right in front of the tv. We made it in time for the 2ns half of Switzerland versus Czech Republic. Manuel and Lesh had a bet with Lesh taking Czech and giving half goal. Manuel was trying to be patriotic but it lost him the bet! We watched most of the Portugal game but went for a boogie on the dance floor for some of the match. Luckily we were back in time to see the first goal which was good timing by us! Manuel and Joseph said tha prostitutes were always a big pain whenever they went to a club. Manuel even resorted to telling them he was gay before which he said works a treat! But they said that if a girl was in the group then they would not get bothered...and sure enough we could see hundreds of girls hanging around but not one approached our group. There were plenty of old, ugly western men lapping up the attention of some stunning Burmese girls. Either they had no qualms of paying for them or else they didn't realise but I think considering how repulsive these men were they'd have to be stupid to believe they could ever attract a girl that beautiful in any other circumstances.

At 3am we left to go home. The club was still going strong but Manuel has a bus to catch tomorrow at 10:45am so we thought I was best to leave. However when we got back instead of falling asleep we started playing cards ?!? Being the sober one I whooped both their asses...should have made sure we played for money hahahaha
